Nicest, sweetest, friendliest and one of the most talented guys I knew at Paul VI. I haven’t seen him since ‘77 but my world is lessened knowing he is gone.
See you in Heaven Joe! Save me a seat in the tenor section.

I did not know Joe well but his selfless acts in caring for his father will always remain in my memory as an example of a true sacrifice for love. Joe was a man of character and God will certainly bless his soul. My condolences to the Meyer family on their great loss.

Not sure where to begin. My friendship with Joe (and eventually most of the extended family!) meant so much to me. Endless hours talking and listening to music, playing music together for so long, so many gigs of our youth. Later as my best man, a wonderful friend. On and on. RIP joe, I’m sure your jamming right now.

Though I only knew Joe for a few years and haven't seen him in decades, I will always remember him as a talented, natural musician who was a pleasure to play with. He had a quiet demeanor, an easy smile and a quick wit that would show itself at the most opportune times. My condolences to your family.

Dear Meyer family, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Joe. I fondly remember him - first as a student in my mother's class at St. Philips, then as my own classmate. He was warm, funny and so talented! I knew him well through the music department at Paul VI, but also as a classmate. He was much loved there by all of us. Of course I had no idea that he had any health problems. It looks like he had Huntington's disease, from the obituary. I know that is a heartbreaking neurological disease, but knowing Joe, he likely dealt with it with grace and humor.
You are all in my prayers. I know Joe is resting peacefully in heaven - maybe even rocking the place!
With much love,
Rose

I knew him in high school ~ we became friends through Concert Choir and the plays ~ I love that you mentioned his performance as King Herod in the lovely obit - that really was unforgettable ! I'm thinking of Joe's friends and family, and praying that his memory will always be a blessing. With love - Rose

Deepest sympathies to the Meyer family. I can remember the fun at dress rehearsal for Jesus Christ Superstar in Paul VI and the fun we had as a result. He will be missed but will live on in your memories and in your hearts. Rest In Peace.

My deepest condolences on your loss.
I have great memories of Joe from our time together in Scouts.
One of my fondest memories of him was when a bunch of us from 121 worked on Wilderness Survival merit badge together during our first summer at Camp Turrell (July 1975). After we had all built our shelters for the night, started our fires and cooked dinner, we gathered around Joe's shelter (or it could have been cousin Bill's shelter, I can't remember that detail) and hung out as night fell. Joe was sitting on a rock outcropping with his feet hanging over the side, trying to light a cigarette with a ferro rod and steel (modern day flint and steel). I remember Joe furiously scraping the ferro rod to produce a shower of sparks and then, in triumph raising his arms and yelling when he finally got the cigarette to light!
Joe had the best laugh of probably anyone I knew - always full of life and energy.
Godspeed, Joe Meyer.

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family. I was one of Joe's caregivers at Lesuire Chateu. Joe always smiled through his eyes which were beautiful. We shared many days basking in the sun and attending musical entertainment at the facility. When I no longer worked at Lesuire I still visited with Joe and kept in touch with his wonderful family. Joe was such a kind loving guy and will be missed by all. I pray that God will comfort the family threw this time . The family is in my prayers. Love you All
