Sharing my deepest sympathy with Rich’s family. I knew him while at Duquesne University. He was friendly, kind and a great friend to many on campus, especially in his fraternity and my sorority. May all the wonderful memories of those who encountered him bring peace to those who loved him most.

Rich was a good friend to many of us in the AST Sorority at Duquesne University. He was such a kind person, quick to laugh and always had an ear to listen and encourage us. He was a special person! I regret not keeping in touch after graduation, time goes by so quickly. He lives on in my fond memories of college. We wish peace and comfort to his family and friends.

I have fond memories of the "NJ Fosters" coming up for summertime visits on Cape Cod and sometimes even in the fall for scallop season. Summer visits wouldn't be complete without a cookout at Grama & Grampa Fosters on Butler Street. As a young child, I remember Rich as being a cute, blond, chubby-cheeked kid with an adorable laugh. As a teen I remember hearing how well he played in the marching band and how great of a sailor he had become. As a young man I continued to hear of his many accomplishments. You were taken too soon Richard, but I know your spirit will live on in those who knew and loved you. My deepest condolences to you Aunt Linda, Uncle Robert, Jessica and family. Richard, keep watch over your family and give all of the Fosters that have gone before us a big hug. Rest peacefully in Gods arms. Love, your cousin Kate

I met Richard (Jessica and Mr. & Mrs. Foster) sailing at Beachwood Yacht Club as kids. Richard and I competed against each other in Lasers at BYC, at inter-club races on the Toms River and Saturdays on the Barnegat Bay. Eventually we sailed together on my brothers E-scow and when Richard asked Rich Kendrick and myself to sail with him for the Sears Cup, we did not win but we sailed well and had fun. That was when I realized how competitive Richard really was. A few years passed and he contacted me to help him transport his J24 he purchased from Maryland back to NJ. At that time I was crewing on a J24 at Metedeconk River Yacht Club and that summer we sailed together again a few times. Richard even let me skipper his J24 at MCYC on Tuesday night races to help develop some crew members. So many fond memories of Richard! My condolences to Mr. & Mrs. Foster and Jessica and her family. SAIL ON!!!

My first memory of Richard is the one I want to share. Richard and I are cousins, the same age. Although we lived in different states, when permitted we would get together as families do. Most often, this was in the summer. My first memory of Richard was when he introduced me to crabbing in NJ! We were about 7 or 8 years old. Boy was he a "towhead" - we had a blast trying to get a haul of crabs to bring back to his house. We played, got sunburned, splashed around the entire day. I can still picture his little face and smile. We had a blast the way only kids can do! I can see him giggling as I type this. My heart is broken that he has passed. God is cradling Richard I have no doubt. May he be sailing pain and trouble free. God bless him and Rest in Peace. Until we meet again, much love to you Aunt Linda, Uncle Robert, Jessica and family xoxo Karen

I remember so well my cousin Richard, when he was born, and then a year later his sister Jess. Whenever we were together, he and Jess, and my two younger sisters always hanging on to me and chasing me around either on the beach or our grandparents lawn. Running, always laughing, I loved those moments! So many good memories. Richard was always so smart and happy. I will miss him always. Love you Richard

I went to thru school with Jess and Rich - class of 1988. One time he gave me flowers because he thought he said something mean? I remember being surprised because for the life of me I couldn't figure out what he was talking about but I told him the flowers were beautiful and thanked him. He will be missed.

I remember Richard‘s big smile and equally big laugh. I also remember his great sense of humor. As his younger cousin who lived a few states away, it was always a treat to see him at family gatherings. He was so friendly and funny, and it was easy to be around him. My memories of Richard are synonymous with memories of childhood summers, even though I know our families saw each other at other times of the year. I think I feel this way because, to me, Richard carried himself with a certain lightness. Always energetic, always having just been or about to go sailing, always slightly tanned. I looked up to Richard in high school and college because he was a role model—very hard working and incredibly accomplished. He elevated conversations; such an articulate and knowledgeable person. All that, and kind. Richard was wise and a beautiful person, and I am grateful to have so many happy memories of him. Love, Julie Brady
