Obituary of Douglas E Willey Jr.
Willey, Douglas E., Jr.- PawPaw as he was lovingly known, died Saturday, January 27th, after a long illness. Doug was born July 24th, 1941 on True Mountain in Summers County, WV to the late Douglas E. and Margaret Willey, Sr. He was a 1959 graduate of Hinton High School. Doug served our country for four years in the US Navy, discharging with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His served on the destroyer escort, U.S.S. Roy O’Hale during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After the Navy, he began a 23 year career with the US Postal Service. He was a member of the United States Letter Carrier Association. Doug proudly coached his sons, Doug and David, when they played in the Bayshore Little and Senior leagues. He was a passionate, lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins and enjoyed cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies. Doug loved spending time with his wife, sons and grandchildren. He was an avid buyer & seller of antique vehicles. Doug was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Diane, in December and by his grandson Jacob (Snapper) Steinhauer. Left behind to mourn are his sons Douglas E. Willey III and wife, Marion, of Tuckerton, David Nelson Willey, of Little Egg Harbor, grandchildren Cody (Cody from Skamody) Steinhauer, Cheyenne (Sissy) and Shane (Peanut) Willey of Tuckerton, and his grandpuppy, Barney. He is also survived by his brother James Willey and wife Deanna, of Perrysburg, OH, sister, Genevieve Lucas, of Radford, VA, and several nieces and nephews. May the road rise to meet you...May the wind be always at your back...May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand. You will be sadly missed. Rest easy in a better place with Mom, walking the beautiful hills of West Virginia. Following Doug's wishes, there will be no viewing or services.
