Nancy and I want to express our deepest sympathy at John's passing. We had hoped to be there tomorrow, but circumstances have probably made that impossible. We always appreciated John's kindness, most recently in his coming to my father's 90th birthday party. May God continue to grant you grace, peace, and hope.

Condolences to John's family from your Canadian relations. As an older cousin whose dad was in the army (John'a Uncle Pete), we never spent much time together, but even as a child his devotion and kindness were evident. And on one of the rare times that we met up as adults, my mom's funeral, John's very presence was comforting and made a difficult time just a little easier. I hope you are able to take comfort from your memories of him,
With love, Eileen

It doesn't feel real.. These two past years I have gotten to know such a wonderful soul and a true blessing to not only our bank but our community. John is one of those "Once in a lifetime" kind of person. A breed of his own. John was the kind of person you could always rely on, a man of his word and an exceptional leader. Many of us have mentors and leaders in our lives and none will ever measure up to John.. I was fortunate enough to be one of those people that he mentored and helped along the way. John was always very understanding, very kind, and had a heart made of gold.. A smile you can't forget, a laugh that could always be heard, and great times always came along with John. I'll never forget the impact he has had on all of us, on myself and how much of a difference he made in my life in a short period of time. If you had the pleasure of working with John, speaking to him or even shaking his hand you would know just how great of a man he really is and always will be to us. Thank you John for always being the best and being who you were. That is something I will never forget..

Where do you begin to express how much John Boekell touched my life. I've had the pleasure of knowing John since 2006 he became my friend and was the best boss a girl could ever ask for. He took me under his wing and taught me everything I know he helped me in all aspects of my life and always with a kind word a gentle push and a hug with that big smile telling me that I got this and he was always right. I referred to him as my God because he always showed me the path to what needed to be done at work and in my personal life. I always told people John was my work husband because we could argue and disagree like a married couple and still have the same amount of love and respect for each other. I have lost my mentor but I will walk with him guiding me from above making him proud. Johanna and Theresa I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your wonderful husband and father with me and all of our team at Shore Community Bank. We will carry on in the matter of which he instilled in us and make him proud.

I was so very sorry to learn of John's passing. One of the finest compliments I can bestow on a person is to refer to the individual as "old school". To me,it encompasses all the great attributes. I can say, without a moment's hesitation, that John was old school. Rest in peace, my friend.

John was a man of God a devout member of the Catholic church who has touched the lives of so many and he will be missed dearly. He was a Pied Piper of sorts in the business world where his acquaintances became friends and his employees became family. It was a pleasure and to work for John at Shore Community Bank for the last 10 years. Business associates followed him from business to business to business...bank to bank. He had a great sense of humor and is known as Mr. Manahawkin. He will always be a beloved figure in our community. I always said John has the Midas Touch and every thing he touches turns to gold. His charismatic personality and knowing how to service the public brought him to great heights. So close to my heart I will hold John and my memories with him. I pray that his soul be blessed and he is now home in the loving arms of Our Father in Heaven. Heartfelt condolences to his wife Johanna, daughter Theresa, grandson Jace and family. Amen.

John Boekell is and always will be the most kindest, caring and most awesome human I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I was blessed to have met him and I thank God that he chose me to work for him. Our 10 years together have been a blessing. My heart is heavy with sadness on the loss of this beautiful man but I know that he is an Angel in Heaven watching over us. My deepest and sincere condolences go out to Johanna, Theresa and their families. You were the lucky ones to have him as a constant in your life.

I was fortunate enough to know John for the past nearly 40 years. He was a kind, witty, man, who was always helpful whether it was at the bank or generally in the community. I along with many others that knew John will miss him dearly. He walked the earth upright, with dignity and a love for his fellow man.
God Bless and Protect his family in this great time of loss.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
I will miss our excellent conversations, and seeing your smiling and friendly face.
Your Friend.

I had the pleasure of working with John as a board and committee member of the Hunger Foundation of Southern Ocean. He was very dedicated not just to this charitable organization but I know he had a genuine passion for other volunteer work as well. My husband Andy and I send our heartfelt condolences to Johanna and the family.
